Chiara Spavieri

Chiara grew up in Pittsburgh PA as a child of academic immigrant parents from Italy and India who highly valued education.  She obtained her B.A. in International Relations at American University in Washington DC.  Throughout her life she is worked with youth, most recently at East High School as a Program Director, and also mentored two students at East who began their freshman year in college in 2021.  Chiara obtained her M.A. in Human Rights and Genocide Studies and has also worked closely with refugees in the US and overseas.  She started working at Manual HS as a DSF advisor and enjoys working in an environment that allows abundant support for students.  She has lived in several different countries and states and feels that travel and exposure to different countries allows for further education. In her spare time she spends time with the senior dogs her and her husband rescue, and is also outdoors as much as time allows running, biking, skiing, rafting, camping, hiking, and anything else!
