April 29th News

Hello Manual Families,

May is almost here and with the start of the new month comes a number of celebrations and events that we get to engage in to honor the work done by our students. This communication will serve to get us all on the same page about the events and celebrations coming our way in May as well as ground us all in the expectations for our students.

Celebrations:

  1. Manual students showed up and worked hard on state testing with 98% of our students participating in PSAT/SAT and CMAS over the last week. That is an incredible effort from our kids and one we should all be proud of because we all worked together to make it happen!
  2. Manual will host 300 students from around DPS and representatives from the White House and U.S. Department of Education on Monday at the White House’s PowerUp for Education Event. Manual was selected as one of just four high schools in the U.S. to host this event and we could not be more excited to once again put Manual in the spotlight for the incredible work we are doing to support all students.
  3. Manual continues to meet or exceed our school goals on attendance and behavior this year. Manual’s attendance is still well above our target for the year and well above where we were as a school over the last few years. Thank you!

Community Focus Areas:

Attendance: We are experiencing our largest attendance decrease of the year. Our school attendance has dropped to 80% in Quarter IV which is lower than it needs to be for students to be successful. Please continue to support your student in attending and being on time each and every day from now until the end of the year.
