Manual has a comprehensive Gifted and Talented program that allows students identified as GT to receive academic support and participate in a community with people who share a common experience and sense of identity. In addition to supporting students identified as GT, Manual is working with DPS to make the nomination process more streamlined and inclusive so that more students can be part of this community. At Manual, any student who desires to have an Advanced Learning Plan can get support from the GT site team in developing one so that their needs as a learner are known and met by teachers. Manual is also home to the LIGHT (Learners Inspired to Get Help Today) Center which is our full social-emotional learning center. In this designated space our students can access a social worker, counselor, attendance supports and help with restorative conversations. This focus on the social and emotional well-being of students sets Manual apart from the rest of the comprehensive high schools in the district. Manual’s designation as an early college grants H/GT students and all students can access college credit-bearing courses during their 9th grade year and a full slate of college courses taught by our own teachers throughout their four years at Manual.
